The Seedsmen Association, Hyderabad was registered under the Andhra Pradesh (Telangana Areas) Public Societies Registration Act, 1350 Fasli with Registration No.1744 of 1995, and has been functioning since then.The Association is having a strength of 458 members out of which 395 seed companies/firms and the rest are seed dealers, individual farmers and Associate members.Annual Membership Fee is being collected based on the turnover of the company and it is revised periodically as decided by the Executive Committee.
Activities of the Association:

  1. To assist/coordinate the members on seed related issues (i.e. Departmental/Legal) to take up with the State Government, Department of Agriculture/Horticulture in both States i.e. A.P. & Telangana.  
  2. To communicate the Circulars, Guidelines, G.Os, Notifications and Instructions to the members received from the Agril./Hort. Departments, Universities, and State Governments, off late only email communications are done.
  3. To Liaison with the Department of Agriculture, Seed Development Corporation, Seed Certification Agency, Agriculture and Horticulture Universities and NSAI.  
  4. To coordinate for Evaluation of newly developed hybrids/varieties of members seed companiesondifferent crops (Cotton, Maize, Paddy, Sunflower, Sorghum and Vegetables) with the Agriculture / Horticulture Universities. 
  5. To assist the members in supply/allocation of Breeder Seed of State and Central Varieties.
  6. To assist the members in R&D Verification as one of the committee member conducted by the Agriculture Department, Seed Certification Agency and Agril./Hort. Universities. 


a)OB and Executive Committee Meeting:
    The Office Bearers meet once in a month on every last Saturdayto discuss and decide on the policies, review of Industry Issues, etc. The Executive Committee Comprises of 15 members of which 4 are Office Bearers and 11 are E.C. Members.Meetings are conducted once in 2 monthsto discuss and decide on various issues/problems faced by the seed industry and to pursue follow up action accordingly.The detail schedule calendar for Office Bearers and Executive Committee meetings for the period of 2 Years is planned and approved. Accordingly the meetings are held.

Prior to the conduct of the Executive Committee Meeting the members are being requested well in advance to send the grass root level problems so as to be discussed.The Agenda for Office Bearers and Executive Committee meeting is sent 10 to 12 days in advance and minutes are sent within a week.

b)Annual General Meeting (AGM):

The eminent personalities who made specific contribution to the Seed Industry are recognised andfacilitatedduring AGM.      
 c)Election :
    The Association the Election will be conducted once in a 2 years i.e. in the month of September at the time of AGM and to form New Body.

d)Seminars / Work shops :
    For awareness and updating the information to the members the Association arranges Seminar/Work shop as and when necessary.Seminar on Seed Qualitywas conducted during last year and Work shop on PPV & FR Actwas conducted recently in December, 2014.

Members Directory:
Detailed information along with relevant Circulars and Memos of the Seed Act, Seed Rules, Essential Commodities Act, Consumer Protection Act, Marketing, Legal Metrology, Value Added Tax environment protection Act, Biological Diversity Act, etc. Important Government orders, notifications  are included.Proformas of various registers to be maintained by the Seed Companies are brought out as a directory along with the details of address, telephone numbers of all Members every year. This Members Directory is found to be useful for the members, officials and other seed associated industries.
